The sixth grade girls won the first round of Archdiocesan playoffs. It took place at St. Rose Philippin Duchesne on March 24th against St. Catherine Laboure. The referee threw the ball up and the game began. St. Catherine got the tip and then they drove down to the basket and took a shot. Then Lily Tolle stole the ball and made her way to the basket and shot a layup within the first 30 seconds. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 9-1 with the Hawks ahead. “We played with tenacious defense.” said guard Abigail Tabeta.
The next quarters were just as good as the first. They only let St. Catherine score 5 points and played with a strong defense. They had lots of rebounds and put up many shots. HR had a rebound, and then St. Catherine Laboure stole the ball and then scored a lay up. That shot made the score 5-17.
At the end of the game, the score was 19-7, with the Hawks winning. “It was a hard- fought win,” said Head Coach, Tim Tolle.
