“I knew I wanted to teach but never knew what. I wasn’t one of those kids who said, ‘Oh, I want to be a firefighter,’ and grew up and became a firefighter.” Ms. Boston joined our faculty this year and has adapted very well to our community.
Ms. Boston moved around a lot when she was younger. She received her high school education at Waterloo High School in Illinois. She went to Murray State University and studied abroad in Spain, earning a degree in Spanish. Ms. Boston said, “I started with teaching Spanish because it came easily, but so did math. I studied abroad and then switched to math for more structure, and I love it.”
When Ms. Boston was a middle school student, her favorite subject was science. Outside of school, her favorite hobbies include yoga, meditation, gardening, cooking, traveling, and hanging out with friends. The coolest place she has ever been is Valencia, Spain. Ms. Boston said that she would be working for NASA if she wasn’t teaching!
So far, Ms. Boston has been enjoying her time at Holy Redeemer. She says she adjusted to the new school well and found the community welcoming, kind, graceful, patient, supportive, and intelligent. “I have a favorite thing that I learn from you guys every week,” she states. This week, her favorite thing was learning that the eighth graders do cotillion because she never had that growing up, and when we blew party noisemakers for our friends’ birthdays. She said that it helped add a little something to the long Monday morning.
Ms. Boston has been a great middle school math teacher. She helps teach us and also adds a bit of fun to her teaching. We appreciate her and everything she does to help us get where we need to be!
